If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Chargers, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Cypress II. The Beebe reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
The Jerry Jeudy deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 12 they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
A reach on Byron Murphy II in slot 37; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reach for Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Braelon Allen in Round 4, Pick 5 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Drake Nugent at the 142nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A conviction pick on Curtis Jacobs at pick 183 that the board grades a round light. A minor itch, scratched.
Fentrell Cypress II slid further than he should have, and pick No. 226 is lovely value for the cornerback. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
