There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Chargers started one anyway for Edefuan Ulofoshio, 47 picks ahead of schedule.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That Abrams-Draine pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the 7th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Byron Murphy II at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reach on Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick No. 38; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Blake Corum in Round 3, Pick 5, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at pick 105 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Kris Abrams-Draine in slot 142 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taulia Tagovailoa at pick 183 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
