Thirty-one other rooms let Dwight McGlothern slide, and the Eagles were the ones holding the card at the Round 6 slot. Highway robbery. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Jacobs has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Circle this one: Kool-Aid McKinstry at pick No. 50 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 53rd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 120 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Jamari Thrash at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Kitan Oladapo come to them and pounced at pick 171. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Curtis Jacobs in Round 5, Pick 36 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
