The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named tight end, a need the Chiefs walked right past.
Conerly Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a two-high chess piece, and a steal at that. More want than need.
A tidy bit of business in the 64th pick, where Jonah Savaiinaea graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They robbed the room for Josh Conerly Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nothing to complain about; Danny Stutsman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Tez Johnson in Round 4, Pick 32, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
No drama and no debate, Javontez Spraggins went about where he belonged in the 254th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
