If confidence were a draft strategy, the Chiefs would have aced it. Logan Fano at the 169th overall pick is 57 spots clear of where he belonged. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That Nwaiwu pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value.
They took Chris Brazzell II at par in No. 29, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had cheaper options than Lee Hunter at Round 2, Pick 8, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jonah Coleman at the 84th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A quiet steal in slot 109: Bryce Lance for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kaleb Proctor at pick No. 148 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; Nadame Tucker in pick 154 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
Logan Fano at slot 169 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Bobby Jamison-Travis in Round 6, Pick 14 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Febechi Nwaiwu in the 210th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
