The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Elic Ayomanor, the No. 95 name on the board, in the 132nd pick.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyler Warren in the 64th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in the 66th overall pick with a little surplus value in Grey Zabel. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They did well to land Jake Majors in slot 96, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Elic Ayomanor at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
