Call it larceny. Tahj Brooks sat on the board until pick No. 255, and the Chiefs did not need to be asked twice.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Tight end was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Will Campbell at the 32nd overall pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Jalon Walker at pick 64 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tyler Warren in pick No. 68 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Malachi Moore at Round 3, Pick 32 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor itch, scratched.
They barely believed it either: Deontae Lawson still on the board at the 133rd pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
You do not let a running back like Tahj Brooks reach slot 255 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
