The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Kalen King slide 33 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 64 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a wide receiver like Ja'Lynn Polk reach slot 95 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Renardo Green at Round 4, Pick 33 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Dallin Holker at the 158th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Kalen King in pick 172 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
