The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Caelen Carson slide 41 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Jordan Morgan all the way to No. 64, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Circle this one: Xavier Worthy at pick No. 95 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Caelen Carson at pick 133 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Javon Foster in the 158th overall pick, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kalen King in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
