The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Xavier Legette slide 22 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Braden Fiske at No. 64 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Xavier Legette at slot 95 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Josh Newton come to them and pounced at pick No. 133. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaheim Bell at the 158th pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Isaac Guerendo at pick 172 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
