The board owed the Chiefs one, and it paid up: Isaiah Adams, the No. 138 name on the board, sitting there at pick 173 like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Eboigbe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kiran Amegadjie at slot 64 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A quiet steal in the 95th pick: Kris Abrams-Draine for less than the market said. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They jumped the gun on Justin Eboigbe, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The roster fit checks out.
Nice patience on Luke McCaffrey, who had no business lasting to pick No. 159. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Isaiah Adams in No. 173 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had Daijahn Anthony higher than Round 7, Pick 32, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
