The Chiefs treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 210 on Jimmy Rolder a full 21 spots early.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. On value alone, Scott makes the weekend a net positive. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They went early on Monroe Freeling in the 9th overall pick, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
In slot 29 they get a double-digit-sack hope, even if it was a touch early.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Peter Woods in Round 2, Pick 8. A need, and now a little less of one.
They read the board right and Keionte Scott was the payoff at the 74th pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They jumped the gun on Justin Joly, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
CJ Daniels at pick 134 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had cheaper options than Seth McGowan at Round 5, Pick 36, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached a country mile for Jimmy Rolder at slot 210, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
