The Chiefs did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Johnny Wilson fell into the 159th overall pick. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
They are betting Logue proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get protection for the quarterback, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nice patience on Xavier Worthy, who had no business lasting to No. 64. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Max Melton was still sitting there in the 95th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A minor itch, scratched.
Taking Audric Estime in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 159 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Kitan Oladapo at slot 173 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Zion Logue in Round 7, Pick 32 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
