Call it larceny. Lathan Ransom sat on the board until the 256th overall pick, and the Chiefs did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: tight end settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 31 they get protection for the quarterback at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Warren in slot 63 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 66th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Tate Ratledge reach pick No. 95 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for Kaleb Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Lathan Ransom in Round 7, Pick 38, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
