Thirty-one other rooms let TreVeyon Henderson slide, and the Chiefs were the ones holding the card at the 212th pick. Highway robbery.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
The dealing was even money, start to finish.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Abdul Carter in slot 31 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at the 63rd overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Luther Burden III at Round 3, Pick 2 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Malaki Starks in No. 95 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Dylan Fairchild in pick No. 137, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled TreVeyon Henderson all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They will replay JJ Pegues at pick 256 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
