The Chiefs did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and DJ Giddens fell into pick 256. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 31 they get a ballhawk on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Tyler Warren in slot 63 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Walter Nolen reach Round 3, Pick 2 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jihaad Campbell in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Dylan Fairchild at pick No. 132 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for DJ Giddens here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
