The Chiefs did not so much draft Caden Prieskorn as overpay for him, 26 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Williams steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a cornerstone up front, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A slide stopped in pick 63, with Abdul Carter worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Jonah Savaiinaea slipping to pick No. 70 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy bit of business in the 95th pick, where Tyleik Williams graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Davison Igbinosun for less than the market said. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Barion Brown at No. 167 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A wild overpay on Caden Prieskorn in the 255th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
