This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Carson Schwesinger, the No. 87 name on the board, stolen at slot 256.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 31 they get a building block for the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
They barely believed it either: Tyler Warren still on the board at the Round 2 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Marcus Mbow slipping to Round 3, Pick 2 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tez Johnson in the 95th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 132 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Carson Schwesinger at pick 256 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
