B
Kansas City Chiefs
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chiefs: B.

2024 NFL Draft
· 6 picks
· 0 steals
· 2 reaches
The Chiefs did not so much draft Taulia Tagovailoa as overpay for him, 35 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Morgan at slot 32 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Malachi Corley. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Javon Baker at the 95th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Roger Rosengarten in Round 4, Pick 32, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Jase McClellan at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Taulia Tagovailoa in No. 252, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
