The Chiefs treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending No. 64 on Patrick Paul a full 21 spots early. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention. The dealing was even money, start to finish.
Hit on Xavier Worthy and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Patrick Paul at slot 64 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Nehemiah Pritchett a notch or two before his time. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Dallin Holker at pick No. 143 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A conviction pick on Jordan Jefferson at pick 159 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Ty'Ron Hopper in No. 173, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They jumped the gun on Deantre Prince, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
