The Chiefs banked a tidy surplus when Tyler Warren lasted to the Round 1 slot, a few spots past his grade. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Cornelius has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Marcus Mbow at slot 64. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Xavier Restrepo at par in the 66th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid up for Ajani Cornelius at No. 96 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Nothing to complain about; Shemar Turner went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
