Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs robbed the room for Simpson. Final grade: C-.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Chiefs, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C- in the wash.

The Simpson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They are betting Eboigbe proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.23 · Pick 23 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 24
In slot 23 they get a sticky cover corner. Need was not the driver here.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 55
Xavier Worthy is a better player than pick No. 64 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 88
They jumped the gun on Dominick Puni, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.32 · Pick 132 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 148
Justin Eboigbe at No. 132 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 137
Steal is underselling it; Jaylin Simpson at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R5.37 · Pick 173 · Jha'Quan Jackson · WR · rank 179
By-the-book stuff, Jha'Quan Jackson at the 173rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · Jalen Coker · WR · rank 252
Jalen Coker at slot 252 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
