The rest of the league will want that one back. Braelon Allen tumbling to the Chiefs in Round 5, Pick 39 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Guyton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
They jumped the gun on Tyler Guyton, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ja'Tavion Sanders in slot 63 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Josh Newton slipping to the 94th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A quiet steal in pick No. 131: Malik Washington for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Austin Booker at pick 161 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They let Keith Randolph Jr. come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 35. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Braelon Allen in the 175th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Aki Ogunbiyi in No. 209, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Tatum Bethune in slot 252; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
