The Ben Sinnott selection is the head-turner. The Chiefs reached 34 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, Pritchett at that price is a win they earned.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jermaine Burton. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Payton Wilson at pick No. 64 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ben Sinnott this early at the Round 3 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Justin Eboigbe in slot 132; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nehemiah Pritchett at Round 5, Pick 23 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Good price on Malik Mustapha in Round 5, Pick 37, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Kimani Vidal in the 252nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
