The Terrance Ferguson pick is the one that will follow the Chiefs into the fall. They took him 120 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.

The Bryant pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, running back and other spots still on the board. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Trey Amos · CB · rank 57
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a press-man option on the boundary, though the board says they badly overpaid.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Armand Membou · OT · rank 68
Armand Membou at pick 63 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Tez Johnson · WR · rank 94
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tez Johnson this early at the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Terrance Ferguson · TE · rank 215
This one needs a full-page explanation: Terrance Ferguson in pick No. 95, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.31 · Pick 132 · Cobee Bryant · CB · rank 178
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Cobee Bryant at cornerback with quarterback, running back and other spots open.
R7.39 · Pick 255 · Tim Smith · DL · rank 296
They talked themselves into Tim Smith at No. 255, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
