You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Chiefs spent the 132nd pick on Sonny Styles while tight end, quarterback and other spots sat unaddressed. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Emmanwori. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
If Fairchild pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a centerfielder for the defense, and a steal at that. More want than need.
The board had Tate Ratledge higher than the 64th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A real head-scratcher, Dylan Fairchild in pick 66 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Savion Williams at the 96th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They bypassed pressing needs at tight end, quarterback and other spots to take Sonny Styles, a safety that was not the priority.
