There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chiefs took Shavon Revel Jr. a full 26 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Sabb. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
If Shavon Revel Jr. and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a potential shutdown corner, a steep price for the projection. Need was not the driver here.
Danny Stutsman in pick No. 64 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
Kaimon Rucker at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No drama and no debate, Nicholas Singleton went about where he belonged in slot 96. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Keon Sabb in pick 128 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Nice patience on Joshua Gray, who had no business lasting to the 160th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Theo Wease Jr. at No. 193 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Oronde Gadsden II in pick 224 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
