Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Chiefs, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D+.
The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, running back and other spots. They are betting Worthy proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Coleman.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jordan Morgan is a better player than the 46th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Keon Coleman in slot 64 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A want over a need in the 95th pick: Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE while quarterback, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Theo Johnson in pick No. 131 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mason McCormick at No. 158 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a cornerback like Jarrian Jones reach pick 172 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 252nd pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
