Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Rod Moore got past him. The Chiefs do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 253.
The cost of the Cornelius reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a featured back at fair value.
They will replay T.J. Sanders at pick 63 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ajani Cornelius in No. 72 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A clean, defensible pick in the 95th pick with a little surplus value in Darien Porter. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Chris Paul Jr. in Round 4, Pick 31 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Rod Moore at slot 253 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
De'Corian Clark in pick No. 254 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
