The Chiefs spent real capital to be 43 picks early on Zane Durant, and the board is going to hold them to it.
Landing Jackson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 31 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They will replay Landon Jackson at the 63rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Shavon Revel Jr. at the 70th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Smael Mondon Jr. at the Round 3 slot is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value with a capital V on Jayden Higgins in slot 132, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Luke Lachey in pick No. 167 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zane Durant in pick No. 255, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
