The Chiefs put a flag in the ground for Jonah Coleman, 31 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a No. 1 receiver, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Maxwell Hairston at the Round 2 slot is the proof. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Tre Harris in the 69th pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jonah Coleman this early at pick No. 96. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had Wyatt Milum higher than Round 4, Pick 32, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Antwaun Powell-Ryland well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reach on Hunter Wohler in the 193rd overall pick; the board had better options right there. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
