When the story of this class is written, it opens with Joshua Cephus at pick 210, a reach of 48 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. That is an offensive lineman worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 64th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They read the board right and Caelen Carson was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 32. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Ben Sinnott in pick 133 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Keith Randolph Jr. at No. 158 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jaylan Ford at the 172nd pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value said wait; Joshua Cephus in Round 6, Pick 35 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Mark Perry in No. 250 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
