Every other box got a look, but quarterback did not. The Chiefs will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
Every board in the league had McCaffrey lower, and that gap is the story. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Adonai Mitchell at par in Round 1, Pick 32, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reach on Max Melton in slot 64; the board had better options right there. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Dominick Puni in pick 95 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Luke McCaffrey at the 132nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jaheim Bell in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A conviction pick on Jordan Jefferson at the 173rd pick that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Rasheen Ali at pick No. 252, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
