Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jordan Davis at slot 252 is 109 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took King. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. A real need, handled.
A tidy little value on Kingsley Suamataia in the 64th pick, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Brenden Rice at Round 3, Pick 32, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Johnny Wilson at the 132nd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kalen King in No. 159 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Cody Schrader at pick 173 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jordan Davis in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
