The rest of the league will want that one back. Nehemiah Pritchett tumbling to the Chiefs in No. 172 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
It is not that Hunt is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a true top target at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Chris Braswell at slot 64 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Zak Zinter in the 95th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A surprising call. With tight end, quarterback and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Jalyx Hunt, a S-EDGE they were not short of.
A straight-up fair deal on Braelon Allen at the 158th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Nehemiah Pritchett at No. 172 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Good price on De'Corian Clark in pick No. 210, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Zakhari Franklin, who had no business lasting to pick 250. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
