The rest of the league will want that one back. Keon Coleman tumbling to the Chiefs in Round 2, Pick 32 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A weekend of give and take that grades a C-.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. It is not that Jackson is a bad player; it is that the Chiefs had louder needs to answer first.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
If Jordan Morgan and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Keon Coleman at No. 64 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
T.J. Tampa slid further than he should have, and pick 66 is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Nothing to complain about; Patrick Paul went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Khyree Jackson while clear needs at quarterback, running back and other spots sat open.
Brenden Rice at pick No. 114 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Ben Sinnott at the 133rd pick, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Tommy Eichenberg in the 137th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Jarrian Jones, who had no business lasting to pick No. 158. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
