Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Chiefs spent the 69th overall pick on Ajani Cornelius, a name most had 35 spots down the list. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a security blanket over the middle, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jayden Higgins at the 64th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Omarr Norman-Lott at Round 3, Pick 4 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ajani Cornelius in pick No. 69, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
