Grand theft in slot 95: the Chiefs steal Mukuba and grade out a B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Andrew Mukuba had no business being available in the 95th pick, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Mukuba pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots. The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes.

The back end got a real overhaul.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 16
In No. 31 they get a two-high chess piece at a price that makes it sweeter.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Colston Loveland · TE · rank 46
Colston Loveland is a better player than slot 63 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 61
A reasonable price with a little left over, TreVeyon Henderson in pick 66. The roster fit checks out.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 71
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Andrew Mukuba adds a safety and leaves wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots untouched.
