The Chiefs spent real capital to be 60 picks early on Sam Hartman, and the board is going to hold them to it. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. On value alone, Jones makes the weekend a net positive.
Hit on Xavier Worthy and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 14 they get a matchup problem out wide, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Brenden Rice went about where he belonged in slot 95. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Xavier Thomas at pick 132 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jarrian Jones in the 159th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Layden Robinson in the 173rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Jordan Jefferson at No. 175 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
A slide stopped in pick 190, with Ty'Ron Hopper worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached a country mile for Sam Hartman at pick No. 199, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 239 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Rasheen Ali at par in the 252nd pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
