There is conviction, and then there is this. The Browns took Vincent Anthony Jr. a full 81 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
The Klare pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. A real need, handled.
In No. 24 they get an anchor for the offensive line, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Omar Cooper Jr. at Round 2, Pick 7 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Chase Bisontis at par in the 70th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
A tight end of that caliber at the 107th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Dametrious Crownover in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Vincent Anthony Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

Josh Moten in Round 7, Pick 32 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
