This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Thaddeus Dixon, the No. 215 name on the board, stolen at the Round 7 slot. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Randall has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
They did well to land Lee Hunter in pick No. 52, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jacob Rodriguez slipping to slot 84 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Davison Igbinosun in the Round 4 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kage Casey at the 160th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good price on Dallen Bentley in pick 201, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Somehow Thaddeus Dixon was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 20, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Adam Randall at No. 255 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
