The Packers went off the board in a big way for Aidan Hubbard, 109 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They banked enough surplus on Lew to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Caleb Banks in slot 52. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Davison Igbinosun slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Connor Lew at Round 4, Pick 20 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Malik Muhammad in the 126th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Beau Stephens. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Seth McGowan at the 201st pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 7, Pick 20 with a little surplus value in Kaden Wetjen. The roster fit checks out.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Aidan Hubbard this early at pick 255. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
