The board owed the Chiefs one, and it paid up: Tyrone Tracy Jr., the No. 126 name on the board, sitting there at pick 173 like a gift left on the doorstep. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Reiman reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Xavier Legette all the way to pick No. 73, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Somehow Ricky Pearsall was still sitting there in No. 74, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Elijah Jones at the 139th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They jumped the gun on Tip Reiman, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Tyrone Tracy Jr. in pick 173 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay KT Leveston at slot 252 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
