When the story of this class is written, it opens with Jared Wiley at pick No. 172, a reach of 27 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Adams value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Mike Sainristil in slot 64; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Leonard Taylor III at Round 3, Pick 32 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They read the board right and Isaiah Adams was the payoff at No. 133. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Isaiah Davis at par in the 158th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jared Wiley at pick 172 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
