The trade table was where it all came apart. The Chiefs shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. It lands right in the middle: a C-, no more, no less.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Wright to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jaylen Wright at pick No. 64 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
DJ James at the 95th pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No edge and no loss on Christian Jones in No. 133; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
