The Eagles put a flag in the ground for Sam Hartman, 49 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Rouse at that price is a win they earned.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get an island corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Payton Wilson at the 50th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A conviction pick on Xavier Worthy at No. 53 that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Matt Goncalves at slot 98, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good price on Kitan Oladapo in the 161st pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Dillon Johnson at pick 171 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A need, and now a little less of one.
They let Walter Rouse come to them and pounced at the 172nd pick. The roster fit checks out.
They reached into another round for Sam Hartman, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
