The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Kyren Lacy slide 73 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Griffith has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Trey Hendrickson gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 29 they get a ballhawk on the back end, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Nothing to complain about; TreVeyon Henderson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Carson Schwesinger at Round 3, Pick 15 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Emery Jones Jr. at pick No. 148 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board fumbled Kyren Lacy all the way to the 207th pick, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Thor Griffith in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
