After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. The Washington reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Muasau pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Caleb Williams at slot 2 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach for Patrick Paul in Round 2, Pick 4; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Bralen Trice went about where he belonged in pick 40. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Payton Wilson at No. 67 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They went early on Malik Washington in the 100th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Dominick Puni at pick No. 102 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid a round early for Keith Randolph Jr. in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy little value on Trey Knox in the 181st pick, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Darius Muasau in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
