The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Reaching for Williams left real value on the table behind him. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Jordan Morgan at par in slot 36, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Edgerrin Cooper in pick 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No drama and no debate, Chris Braswell went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 8. The roster fit checks out.
Zach Frazier in pick No. 47 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cooper Beebe at No. 67 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Xavier Legette at the 70th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for James Williams at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They jumped the gun on Isaac Guerendo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had cheaper options than Jarrian Jones at the 138th overall pick, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Caedan Wallace. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Javontae Jean-Baptiste at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
