Nobody had Steven Parker this high, and it is not close. The Commanders reached 128 spots to get him at slot 250. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Landing Smith that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 29 they get juice off the edge at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Elic Ayomanor in No. 61 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dylan Fairchild at pick No. 79 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Shemar Turner reach the 148th pick and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board fumbled Smael Mondon Jr. all the way to pick 207, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: Brashard Smith still on the board at the 238th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; Steven Parker in the 250th pick says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
